End Of Beauty

About: "But beauty, real beauty, ends where an intellectual expression begins. Intellect is in itself a mode of exaggeration, and destroys the harmony of any face." - Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

Maybe the most beautiful things are the ones no one can express.
Burnt.

Shall I think of sinners perishing, and yet not be awakened? Will not heaven quicken me? Can I think of the reward that awaiteth the righteous, and yet be cold? Will not death quicken me? Can I think of dying, and standing before my God, and yet be slothful in my Master’s service? Will not Christ’s love constrain me? Can I think of His dear wounds, can I sit at the foot of His cross, and not be stirred with fervency and zeal?

- C.H. Spurgeon

God has called us all to a life that we are simply not living. Or at least I’m not. Our eyes and our hearts are so distracted by other things, that our gaze rarely rests on our Savior. How can our lives be of any purpose or move with any speed, when our focus is constantly changing? How do we expect to make any progress towards the kingdom of God, when we so often fix our eyes on things other than the One who has laid out our path? No wonder we stumble and fall! No wonder we continue to get lost! Why is it that it is easier for us to stumble around in the darkness than to chase after the dim light that we have drifted so far from? Is it because we know that as we approach this light it will transform into a blazing fire? That it will burn away all that we thought was our life? All that we thought was valuable? All that we thought was satisfying? Is it because we understand the power of this flame? That we’re afraid to be consumed by it like we once were? To see all the things we have held onto turn to ashes? Why don’t we instead desire this flame?

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. - Philippians 1:21

Let us die to the things that have never let us live.

Let us run to the all consuming fire of our God.

Let us constantly be burned by His flame, and refined into who He has created us to be.

Let us stop living cold and asleep,

but let us live burning and alive.
