End Of Beauty

About: "But beauty, real beauty, ends where an intellectual expression begins. Intellect is in itself a mode of exaggeration, and destroys the harmony of any face." - Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

Maybe the most beautiful things are the ones no one can express.
Threshing Floor.

A threshing floor is a circle of land that has been cleared and flattened for the purpose of threshing wheat. To avoid water running into the threshing floor, there is usually a small wall built around it. Threshing floors are usually located on top of a hill or a mountain. Somewhere high enough that the wind can aid in the winnowing process. The winnowing process is the process in which the grain is separated from the chaff. The purpose of the threshing floor.

Sheaves of grain are placed on the threshing floor and then large animals walk around and around and around dragging a threshing board to tear the grain from the stalk and to loosen it from the husks. After the grain has been broken and trampled on, it is collected and thrown up in the air over and over again. And as the grain is thrown in the air the chaff starts to blow away in the wind, and the grain falls at the feet of the winnower.

The threshing floor is the place where Joseph and his family mourned the death of their father. It’s the place where David built an altar, and later, a temple to the Lord. It’s the place where the angel of the Lord told Gideon he was a mighty warrior. That God was sending him to save Israel. It’s the place where Ruth laid at the feet of Boaz. Where she recognized her redeemer and went to be with him.

Wherever you are, gather all you have and bring it to the threshing floor.

Gather your sorrows, your fears, your desires, your needs, your worship. Bring it all. This is a place to be broken. To be restored. To be called. To be sent out. To be refined. To be renewed. To be loved. To hear the voice of the Lord. To see His face. To be with him. To be changed by the steady, gentle, strong wind of a God who loves you enough to tear you apart. Let the chaff of your heart be swept up in the gusts of His presence, and then let what’s left slowly fall to your Father’s feet.

“The Lord bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: you have not run after young men, whether rich or poor. And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask.” - Ruth 3:10-11

When Ruth came and simply laid at the feet of Boaz, it pleased him more than any service she would have done for him in his fields.

Wait for Him. Sing to Him. Shout to Him. Shout at Him. Cry out to Him. Laugh with Him. Dance with Him. Rest in Him.

Lay at His feet.

Let His love wear you down until the remnants of who you used to be can’t help but be scattered by the wind of His Spirit.
